Sacheen Smith is Navajo, Dine' from Albuquerque, NM. Her clans are Tsenjikini (Cliff Dwelling People Clan), and born to Ashiihi (SaltPeople Clan). Sacheen lost her eyesight ten years ago which has been an immense transition for anyone. Sacheen decided eleven years ago, when she was diagnosed with an eye disease, that this wouldn't devastate her life. She challenges herself on a daily basis to overcome barriers as a Blind person. As an artist before she lost her eyesight, and thought she would never draw or paint again. She was influenced by Ojibiwe Artist, Sam English. Through his influence and her determination, she has found a new way to create and utilize her artistic abilities as a blind person. Sacheen has a passion to paint and create as a Blind Artist.
